There are four ways you can support the important work of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute:
Since 1986, Florida’s specialty license plate program has raised over $500 million
for worthy causes and over 1.2 million Floridians annually participate in the program. Proudly display your support for conserving Florida’s vital ocean resources by purchasing one or more Florida specialty license plates. The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation directs proceeds from these plates to marine exploration, research, conservation and education. Private gifts are essential for the continued growth and development of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation, Inc. (HBOIF), a 501(c)3 organization, supports marine science and engineering research and education by funding HBOI-FAU efforts to advance understanding of oceans and coastal areas through exploration and scientific inquiry. We are a Direct-Support Organization (DSO) of Florida Atlantic University benefiting Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. The DSO designation allows HBOI Foundation to affiliate with FAU Foundation, Inc. through which all private support dollars are administered. This arrangement allows the HBOI Foundation to benefit from the business operations of a larger foundation. When you make your gift online via the FAU Foundation website, your gift is designated for the work at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. Since 1988, the Friends of Harbor Branch Membership Program is comprised of individuals and families who pay annual dues and in exchange receive benefits that further the HBOI-FAU mission of Ocean Science for a Better World.Membership benefits include regularly scheduled Behind the Scenes Tours of the laboratories on the Harbor Branch campus where scientists spend a few minutes explaining the scientific research in which they are currently engaged. In addition, trips, tours and lectures are sponsored by the Friends of Harbor Branch, providing reduced ticket pricing to members and advance notice of limited seating events. Friends receive a monthly calendar of upcoming programs and a recently instituted reciprocal arrangement with the Association of Science-Technology Centers offers members of the Friends free admission and other benefits at over 320 museums and science institutions around the world. To become a Friend of Harbor Branch, please visit or call the membership office at the Ocean Discovery Center at Harbor Branch or call 772-242-2559.
Supporting the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation through a planned gift ensures that there will always be an income stream for operations and special projects and initiatives for Harbor Branch.
